Today I got a call from our agency and we now know the reason behind all of our delays, but it doesn't really make anything easier.
The organization caring for our daughter and overseeing our case is a RIPA (Recognized Indian Placement Agency) or orphanage that oversees international adoptions. This orphanage has recently decided to give up their status as a RIPA and as such will not be handling any more international adoptions.
What that means for us...... We are stalled in the middle of this process. We no longer have a RIPA representing our case and we cannot move forward until we do.
There is good news…The government likes and approves of us. They have no problem with our case moving forward, we just have to have a RIPA in the same state to represent us. The other piece of good news is that even though our case is being transferred to another RIPA, our daughter does not have to move anywhere. Stability and consistency are important for any child and especially one who is blind. So we are very thankful that she won't have to be moved.
Pray that our daughter is being well cared for during this time. Pray for grace, and peace, and strength, for Jason and myself. We are very overwhelmed and tired and ready for our baby to come home.
We have no timeline anymore until our case gets transferred.
We are confident that there is another plan at work here. There is a peace supporting us and we know that God is building up to something incredible. This uncertainty is difficult, but we don't doubt that we are on the right path.
We do not know when we will have any updates, but we will try to pass them on when we do.
There is some kind of satisfaction in simply having communication and a reason . . . but I am so sorry to hear this news. It is agonizing to have to wait even a day longer, and you will be in my prayers for a speedy reassignment so you can be united with your daughter.

Thank you, Nancy. It is good to know what's going on...just frustrating that the only thing we can do is wait. Hopefully we'll only have to wait until October.
DeleteI am so excited for you and your family! It's such a blessing to read about how close you are to bringing your baby girl home!
