We have been registered into India's adoption system and have applied to be matched with our daughter. Our home study has been forwarded to India and is currently under review. We are waiting for our match to be approved and for that status to be forwarded on to our daughter's orphanage. We will be in a sort of holding pattern until that approval is given. As soon as we have word that has happened, we go into scramble-mode again to make sure that we have all of the documents needed for the dossier and can get that sent to our agency quickly. We have most of what we need ready and waiting, but there will be a few last minute things to be done.
The other thing that will happen after we and the orphanage have received official approval of our match is that we should receive our official referral. We'll begin to learn so much more about our sweet little girl! That, right there, makes all the waiting worth it.
And then we will wait some more as our dossier passes through the necessary levels of approval which takes time. Waiting is frustrating, but also a very important part of this process. Waiting means things are happening a world away from us that are moving us closer to our little girl. Waiting means we are steps (even if they're tiny steps) closer to being able to hold our sweet Cora. There will be peace in the waiting.
We were also featured on the front page of our local newspaper today. (http://www.clarionledger.com/article/20130708/NEWS01/307080039/Eyes-wide-open-about-needs-blind-toddler) We are very thankful for Kristen, who wrote the story, and Vickie, who took the pictures, for coming out and helping us to share our story.
As a result of this story, I have had several people ask what our immediate needs are as far as fundraising.
- $1,500--We need this number as soon as we possibly can. This amount is due to our agency quickly.
- $5,000--This will be due when we accept our daughter's referral.
- $9,500--This amount will be due right before we travel to India to bring Cora home.
We are selling origami boxes and I have started a page on Facebook to sell them (https://www.facebook.com/BoxesForCora). We still have our Adoption Bug T-Shirt store open. The "Donate" button here on the blog (underneath our picture) is also live. Tax deductible donations can be made in our name to our adoption agency, European Adoption Consultants (www.eaci.com). We will be holding another online silent auction most likely in September.
That's where we are... So for now, we will continue to do all we can to prepare for the day we get to hold our baby girl.
